PRESENTATION:  Traditional Family ParentingIndigenous peoples have always had the knowledge to raise a child holistically; preparing them to make positive choices, enjoy healthy relationships, healthy children create healthy communities. Today Indigenous teachings are a source of strength and identity for many moving forward reclaiming their ancestral identity by seeking out indigenous knowledge holders. Sharing openly promoting pride and history from an Indigenous peoples Worldview exposing the breakdown of Indigenous family systems due to colonization, enforced by residential schools and perpetuated today through mainstream child welfare systems. Traditional Family Parenting workshops helps bring awareness of the success Indigenous Family Systems have and how we can continue these teachings illustrating positive parenting skills and working to prevent cultural degradation.

“Many of us were brought up by dysfunctional parents who hated themselves, who were taught to hate themselves so they (often unknowingly) pass it on to others around them. Finding yourself on the receiving end? See it as a gift for you to seek strength and supports to help keep it out. Lateral violence is an energy. You decide to let it in, things can’t come into you without your consent” ~ Tasha Beeds
