SUMMARY:Seven Grandfathers Teachings
DESCRIPTION:The Anishinaabe have survived by following their ancient philosophy of living a good life\, since time immemorial. This philosophy helps all living beings to remain connected to the Great Spirit\, our Mother the Earth\, and to each other. It is our belief that all races were given these universal teachings which are required to live in harmony with oneself\, among others and all the living beings on Mother Earth. \nSPEAKER:  Allen Sutherland\, also known by his spirit name Waabishki Mazinazoot Michtaatim (White Spotted Horse)\, and of the Bizhiw Doodem (Lynx Clan)\, Anishinaabe member of Skownan First Nation\, Treaty 2 Territory\, Turtle Island. \nAllen’s strong Anishinaabek roots run deep and always present\, leaving him in the unique position of being a conduit between Traditional and Contemporary World. Allen had the opportunity of working within First Nations\, Federal and Provincial Governments\, including grassroots community work for over 30 years. Allen provides facilitation and training under his own company of WHITE SPOTTED HORSE\, Inc\, for over 15 years\, where he is often a sought-after resources person on the history and culture of the Anishinaabe of Turtle Island. Allen is living out his life purpose as Anishinaabek Historian\, Traditional Knowledge Keeper\, Nation Builder and Healer of many healing bundles. Allen is part of the Speakers Bureau of the TREATY RELATIONSHIPS COMMISSION OF MANITOBA for over 15 years. \nAllen is currently the Earth Lodge Keeper of the First Nations Treaty 2 Territory. SUMMARY:ADOLESCENT PARENT DAY
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for APIN’s Annual Adolescent Parent Day (APD) at the Norwood Hotel\, 112 Maryland Street. \nThis year\, APIN is pleased to have Sally Massey Wiebe present at APD. Sally is a Certified Counsellor under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and Accredited Financial Counselor Canada (AFCC). Her presentation\, “Money Talks!  Does yours say “Good Buy!” or “Goodbye”?”\, will ask if you ever wonder what triggers the choices you make about money? This fun and interactive session will help you to learn all about your relationship with money without having to do any math!  Plus\, come find out if you are getting all the financial benefits and credits\, you and are eligible for and where to go to get help with navigating the complicated world of financial benefit programs. \nThe day starts at 9:15am with a light breakfast. Sally will present at 10:00am until 12:00pm (with a 15-minute break). Lunch will be served at 12:00pm. Please bring formula or lunch for your children. At 1:00pm\, there will be 3 breakout sessions\, Thai Chi\, Library Services\, and an All levels (prenatal-friendly) workout. Participants will rotate between the 3 sessions. \nParticipants staying until the end of the day will receive a gift bag\, filled with goodies. \nPre-registration is mandatory as space is limited.
