Career Trek is a social profit organization that’s been providing career development programming for children and youth in Manitoba for over 25 years in Winnipeg, Brandon, The Pas, Thompson, Dauphin and in collaboration with Indigenous communities (urban and rural).
Career Trek’s work focuses on supporting children and youth, from equity-deserving groups, who face disproportionate barriers to employment, education, justice, and social participation. Participants in our programs are often newcomers, First Nations or Metis, from other racialized and abilities communities and are typically under-represented in the labour market.
Our vision is to inspire life-long learning today, for a just and equitable tomorrow by providing early career education interventions. By investing in students’ career development while they’re still in school, through experiential career education programming that also includes mentorship and workshops, Career Trek is supporting them as they look towards the future, break the cycles of oppression, and work towards achieving their dreams.
To do this, Career Trek works in collaboration with schools, community-based organizations, post-secondary institutions and business and industry to deliver a fulsome program that demonstrates the pathway from high-school graduation to further education and employment. These types of collaborative partnerships ensure that students have the experiences and knowledge they need to make informed decisions about their future.
Career Trek’s career development programming supports students as they work to navigate, investigate and experience a variety of careers across of number of key sectors in Manitoba such as trades, technology, engineering, science, manufacturing, and healthcare to name a few. By working in this way, students will have support and access to the resources they need as they work to chart an education and career path that best meets their needs, interests and strengths.
